The URBAN NATION Museum presents an artistic program in public space that goes beyond the current exhibition LOVE LETTERS TO THE CITY.
For the opening of the exhibition and as part of the Bülow Street Festival, Maxim Brandt, CAZ.L, Kasia Dudziak, Nerea Ferrer, Rommy González, Pablo ientile, Jakob der Bruder, Felix Lies, Kristina Popov, Snyder, wanitapagihari, WESR and Jazoo Yang have created new murals, so-called C-Walls, which take up the exhibition theme around the URBAN NATION Museum.
wanitapagihari’s mural captures the interaction between hidden emotions and outward expression in a busy city. The tentacles in the artwork symbolize buried emotions such as fear and sadness and represent dreams that are obscured by societal constraints. Floral embellishments reflect the energy of the city and the outward beauty and friendliness of the community, suggesting that the individual, like the city, possesses vibrant qualities while experiencing contrasting emotions internally. “The geometric patterns along the wall signify life’s perpetual motion and energy, serving as the foundation of individual experiences. These patterns are inspired by my tribe, symbolizing the encouragement to persist and never give up until victory is achieved,” explains the artist. These patterns symbolize the protective shields that people develop against life’s challenges. wanitapagihari’s C-Wall is an artistic commentary on the duality of human emotions and the search for safe spaces, emphasizing the hidden struggles and resilience in all of us.
